WEBINAR: DO PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES MATTER?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

PBS NewsHour Extra and NewsHour Productions are collaborating with Share My Lesson to bring you a webinar and classroom resources designed to engage students in this year’s upcoming presidential debates.

Lee Banville, Associate Professor of Journalism at the University of Montana and formerly with PBS NewsHour, and Victoria Pasquantonio, education editor with PBS NewsHour and long-time middle and high school social studies teacher will reflect on the first presidential debate of 2016 and present rare footage of presidential candidates talking about their debate experiences. Banville’s book “Debating Our Destiny” captures the presidential debate moments that shaped history through interviews with the candidates from 1976-2004 by PBS NewsHour legend Jim Lehrer. These video clips and classroom resources can help frame classroom discussions about the 2016 election.
